please dont make it in 3d!! dont do it just to fit in with what is currently being done!! 3d really isnt that good, and it really doesnt improve a film. in fact, it ruins the quality and doesnt make up for that by being impressive!! just try to make the film true to the book and dont try any fancy tricks. it will be much better without.

I couldn’t agree more with the above. Cinemagoers are practically being force fed special effects, qucik edits and 3d gimmicks – doesn’t anyone just focus on the story anymore, or does hollywood think we’re really too stupid?

If you make it into a 3D movie you are going against everything that Martel speaks about in his novels. You will ruin the true beauty of what he trying to get across.
Creating a movie out of any of his novels, espesially Life of Pi, ruins the meaning anyway. But people aren’t happy with books, they have to kill the greatness in everything.
So if you must make a movie out of Life of Pi, do not make it 3D and ruin everything that this novel stands for.

Please, please don’t make this movie in 3D. It will cheapen and defraud the beautiful story.

Thank you for the supporting comments, no one usually agrees with me when I express my dislike for 3d :)
Having recently finished the book again, I would now go as far as saying a film is a bad idea altogether. I say this because a film, no matter how well made, cannot possibly express the infinite detail in thoughts that can be so beautifully implied in text. This is particularly important when applied to thought, which is

Having recently finished the book again, I would now go as far as saying a film is a bad idea altogether. I say this because a film, no matter how well made, cannot possibly express the infinite detail in thought that can be so beautifully implied in text. This is particularly important when applied to Life of Pi, as being at sea with only a tiger for company can somewhat limit actual spoken dialogue, limiting the amount of information conveyed, which leads to viewers missing important subtle details.
A film will not be able to capture the hidden hints of anthropomorphism scattered throughout the book without showcasing them in a way that is messy and obvious. This would make a main theme of what should be an undertone, and – basically- ruin it.
And this is why I don’t want a film to be made of Life of Pi.
The textual beauty is enough to render any of a visual kind superfluous.
